WONDER WORKS HISTORY | Wonder Works Toy Store, Charleston SC

What Sparked the Magic?

kidbubbChristine Osborne and co-owner Dan Morrisey opened the doors to the first Wonder Works toy store on August 10, 1990. Their mission was to create a different kind of toy store, one that inspired the magic and wonder of fun.  The two met when they both worked at Southern Pines Hospital together from 1981-1990. With a degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, Christine worked as an Occupational Therapist and was later promoted to the hospital’s Marketing Director in 1985. Dan moved to Charleston in 1981 to help open the hospital and served as the Hospital Administrator in 1984 until the hospital was sold to Charter Corp.  But Christine and Dan wanted to do something more, something inspirational. So the two put their heads and their passions together and opened Wonder Works.  Dr. Dan courageously battled pancreatic cancer in 2007. He has and will forever be a part of Wonder Works.
